Handling Box

The Open Museum in Glasgow has created a handling box to coincide with this project. It contains a dozen items all specially selected to give a sense of what life is like for people who are visually impaired. Some of the items are historical objects from Glasgow Museums’ collection. Others are items lent to or belonging to Visibility, which are in everyday use. There is an audio commentary describing each item and what it is for. Prepare to be amazed and surprised!

The handling box, pictured above,  is available for any community group or organisation to borrow and explore, completely free of charge. To find out more or make a booking for the handling box contact the Open Museum on 0141 276 9300 or send an email
